Does LG remove lead?

Last reviewed July 2026.

Not on any listing we can find. LG says its filter is certified for lead, and it may well have been. But a certified lead claim is only as good as the certifier's listing, and for the model we track no listing shows one today. Until it does, we do not count a certified lead claim.

LT1000P: LG says the LT1000P is certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401. On 2026-10-02 we could not find it in any certifier's listing: NSF's LG Electronics listing shows the LT500P, LT600P and LT800P only, an IAPMO R&T model search returns third-party replacements only, and a WQA search for LT1000P returns nothing (waterfilterscore#14). Until a listing is found, we do not count a certified lead claim. Source: NSF listing, LG Electronics, read 2026-10-02.

LT1000P: LG states the LT1000P is certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401 (lg.com). The NSF listing it cites (LG Electronics, read 2026-10-02) no longer shows the LT1000P, and IAPMO R&T and WQA searches did not find it either (waterfilterscore#14). The standards shown on our LG pages are LG's statement, and the LT1000P is left out of every certified ranking, until a listing is found (waterfilterscore#17). LG's LT800P is listed to 42 and 53 only.

What does have a certified lead claim

Ranked by cost per certified gallon — the only fair way to compare a $20 pitcher filter with a $50 fridge cartridge. Every one below holds a certified lead claim with an accredited certifier, and the listing is public.

How to check this yourself

Nothing here needs to be taken on trust. LG says its filter is certified; check that yourself by searching the three accredited certifiers' public databases — NSF International, WQA and IAPMO R&T — for the model number printed on the filter. When we searched, none of them listed it. If one does, the listing wins and we will update this page.

Why 53 is the number that matters

NSF/ANSI 42 is aesthetics — chlorine, taste, odour. 53 is health effects, and it is where the lead claim lives — but only where the model's 53 claim set names lead. A filter can be honestly "NSF certified" and still filter nothing but taste, and a 53 listing can cover cadmium, copper and mercury without lead — see 42 vs 53 vs 401.

Find your filter by part number

Know your filter's part number? These pages list the LG refrigerators each part fits, from LG's own pages, and what NSF's listing certifies: LG LT1000P, LG LT800P, LG LT700P, LG LT600P, LG LT500P.

We do not test filters — we index what accredited certifiers publish, with attribution, and make no health or treatment claims. A certification covers a specific model against a specific standard; it is not a general seal of quality. We are not affiliated with NSF International.
